Company Overview

Composite Software is the leader in on-demand enterprise data integration. The company's Enterprise Information Integration (EII) technology allows companies to find, access, combine, and deliver on-demand information from critical data sources located in disparate sources across the enterprise, including SAP, Siebel, and Oracle applications. Composite's solutions enable companies to deploy enterprise data services within a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) using Web services, or simply using a traditional SQL-based approach. We present information as a single data-services layer to enable you to easily build information applications.

The Challenge

The Composite Information Server (CIS) is a multi-threaded, 100-percent Java application that contains the query engine, library of views, cache and metadata repository; CIS also handles security. The Composite Information Server is built on the Composite View Services Architecture (VSA). This foundation makes it practical to extend a services-oriented architecture (SOA) to include data assets, also called data services. Within an SOA, data services can provide information in the form that users need to see it, regardless of how or where it is stored, and even if the data spans multiple sources. SOA-enabled data provides information on demand and allows for reuse of data services.

Composite Application Views™ (CAVs) unlock your information from SAP, Oracle, Siebel, and PeopleSoft. Unlike low-level adapters, CAVs decode application data, exposing it as standard relational tables or Web services for consumption by widely used front-end and reporting tools. This allows you to query, and even update, complex applications directly, eliminating API complexities and saving you time. CAVs deliver hundreds of pre-built views representing the most common business objects, presented in standard business terminology. The views serve as building blocks for IT business solutions that require information from packaged applications.

The JReport Solution

JReport OnDemand IntegrationJReport and Composite Software have recently partnered to offer a new joint solution: JReport OnDemand Integration . The companies will co-market and co-sell the new reporting solution with out-of-the-box information integration capabilities.

The new joint product addresses customers' demand to embed reporting and operational business intelligence into all types of applications and systems. Virtually all applications can benefit from improved reporting and data presentation, and by partnering the leader in Java-based reporting with the leader in enterprise information integration (EII), customers will have access to a powerful reporting solution that can be tightly integrated with data sources throughout their organization.

JReport OnDemand Integration allows reports to be created based on information distributed throughout an organization. Composite's software pulls information from traditional data sources such as databases or OLAP cubes, and from other structured and unstructured data sources such as XML, Excel spreadsheets, flat files and Web services.

Composite's offering creates a unified abstraction layer for data across a company, allowing that data to be correlated regardless of which application it came from. It presents live data from different sources as if it existed in a single place. In contrast to the way data is viewed inside a data warehouse, the data within an EII infrastructure appears as a virtual database – transparently generating queries to multiple sources behind the scenes and combining information appropriately as it is returned.
