First Ever Online Transportation Ticketing System in India Powered by JReport

Jinfonet Software, Inc. and Radiant Infosystems, a leading information technology consulting, development and training company, recently announced a new partnership to offer an online public transportation ticketing service for the first time ever in Karnataka, India. The new solution will be the first online public transportation ticketing service in the country.

Radiant Infosystems, in collaboration with IBM and Bharat Electronics Ltd., has implemented a web-based ticketing portal application that enables commuters to query bus routes, view bus schedules and book advance travel tickets via the internet for any starting and stopping destination in South India. By including Jinfonet's JReport reporting offering in the solution developed by Radiant Infosystems, the state will be able to report on online reservations for 4,000 buses used by 2.2 million passengers on a daily basis. JReport Selected over Crystal as Reporting Engine for Real Estate Assessment Tool

Jinfonet Software, Inc. and COMIT, a provider of IT services for the financial services sector in Switzerland, announced that JReport will be embedded into the real estate assessment offering COMIT developed for Wüest & Partner, the largest real estate consultancy firm in Switzerland.

The application built by COMIT calculates real estate market values for Wüest & Partner clients and provides insight into the potential rental market for a property. In addition to providing analysis, Wüest & Partner wanted to make sure the offering included sophisticated reporting capabilities. After evaluating numerous reporting offerings, including Jinfonet, Crystal Reports and a Swiss company's offering, COMIT selected Jinfonet's JReport. With JReport, Wüest & Partner customers have an easy-to-use and understand tool to calculate the potential value of a residential or commercial property. JReport Tech Tip:
Modifying Timeout Parameters in JReport Enterprise Server

JReport Enterprise Server allows you to configure the way in which report viewing session timeouts are applied. If your end users are experiencing undesirable timeouts, the report administrator can modify the parameters that control timeout behaviors.

There are five JReport Enterprise Server properties that affect timeouts, all of which are accessed through the JReport Administration Console:

  • Administration console > Configuration Page > Service > Connection Timeout(s) in Milliseconds  
 
This setting specifies the maximum milliseconds that a request from a client-side can be blocked before being refused by the server. If there are no connection handlers free after the maximum milliseconds, then the request will be refused back to the client. The default 500ms is appropriate for most scenarios. Increase this setting if there are too many requests and the server needs more time to handle each request. This parameter is only for JReport Enterprise Servers running in standalone mode.
   
• Administration console > Configuration > Advanced > User Session Timeout
 
This setting forces off idle users after the specified time elapses. This timeout can be disabled for JReport Enterprise Servers running in an embedded mode by setting server.invalidate_httpsession_when_logout = false. The default session timeout is 30 minutes. This parameter is only for JReport Enterprise Servers running in standalone mode.
   
• Administration console > Configuration > Advanced > View Report Timeout
 
This setting determines how long an on-demand report runs before it is moved the background. To keep a large on-demand report running in the front-end, increase this setting. The default is 170 seconds. This parameter is for JReport Enterprise Servers running in standalone and embedded mode.
If a report cannot be completed within the time specified here, it will be put into the On-demands page and the server will go on running the report there. To stop running the report, select the report by checking the corresponding check box and delete it from the On-demands table.
   
• Administration console > Preferences > DHTML > Lock Screen Timeout
 
This setting causes the workstation to become locked when the idle time is over the specified time for viewing a DHTML report. The default is 180 seconds.
This parameter is for JReport Enterprise Servers running in standalone and embedded mode.
   
• Administration console > Preferences > DHTML > Report Buffer Timeout
 
This setting causes the DHTML report to become unavailable if the server has not received any requests until after the specified time elapses. This setting can also prevent a large report from being created. If the report needs more than 5 mins (the default value) to get the first page, increase the setting.
This parameter is for JReport Enterprise Servers running in standalone and embedded mode.
