New JReport 10 provides users with new ways to explore their data. Based on a robust, agile development platform, interactive reports are available across the enterprise with superior performance and scalability.
Rich Visualization
Rich visualization promotes better understanding of data by enabling sophisticated, interactive visual presentation. JReport 10 offers new chart types and features. The new multi-axis bullet charts provide great deal of data in a contained space, and are well suited to dashboards and scorecards, as you can easily see KPI results. Polished gauge, combo and bubble charts, and enhanced default settings, enrich visualization.
Increased interactive capabilities with more reusable report components and the ability to visually slice, dice and drill down help you get more from your data. Intuitive click-based interface and on screen filters dynamically filter data with a single click. Automatic drill-down allows users to easily create detailed reports from charts or crosstabs. On screen cascading parameters allow the user to see and modify all of the parameter values directly in the report.
Two Types of Reports
New JReport Studio provides a Rich Internet Application (RIA) experience to create ad hoc reports and to view, modify, and interact with existing reports. JReport Studio is optimized to view Web Layout Reports. JReport 10 includes a new Web-based report viewer that makes it easier for users to get pertinent information by filtering data and slicing and dicing reports. Overall, the improvements make for a more visual and interactive online reporting experience.
JReport Studio complements the pre-existing JReport Viewer, and provides a second choice for consuming reports. JReport Viewer enables users to view Page Layout Reports, and the new Studio offers a new Web Layout Reporting option.
With Web Layout Reports you can insert components, apply filters, parameters, and CSS styles, set up links to other web layout reports, and export and print report results. Web Layout Reports also provide component navigation.
Performance and Scalability
JReport Server Live uses AJAX technology and is designed to be even more interactive and responsive. Scalable Architecture based on Web 2.0 technology separates layout intensive tasks (rich client) from data intensive tasks (server) to decrease each user's footprint on the server. This streamlined architecture greatly reduces server workload and communication overhead, making the JReport Server Live extremely scalable and capable of handling a very large user population with superior performance.
Cached Report Data now allows reports to be run for a specific period against the cached data, without going back to the DBMS.
The new ad hoc report wizard is intuitive enough for both business and technical users. The wizard facilitates the creation of complex reports with multiple data-sharing components in a tabular style layout using customizable templates.
