VoyenceControl NG Compliance Report Manager Bundles JReport to Provide Easy-to-Understand Compliance Reports Related to SOX, HIPAA, GLB and Other Regulations

ROCKVILLE, Md. and RICHARDSON, Tx. – May 9, 2006 – Jinfonet, the leader in embedded reporting solutions for Java applications, and Voyence, a technology visionary in automating network change and configuration management, today announced Jinfonet’s JReport has been embedded into VoyenceControl NG Compliance Report Manager as the report development environment and reporting engine. VoyenceControl NG Compliance Report Manager is a new reporting suite that provides visibility into whether critical network resources are configured in compliance with government regulatory requirements (Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, Gramm-Leach Bliley, etc.), internal standards, as well as industry best practices for change management.

JReport’s pure Java architecture and rich set of application protocol interfaces (APIs) enable seamless integration and customization of reporting within the Voyence offering. The Voyence product “listens” within the network and determines if there has been a violation of required network configurations. This information is then presented to end users through JReport.

The value of VoyenceControl NG Compliance Report Manager lies in the product’s ability to assist the numerous levels in an organization address their specific roles related to regulatory compliance. The benefits scale from assisting executives with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 302 sign-off requirements to enabling IT managers with the ability for tracking approved or non-approved device changes. VoyenceControl NG Compliance Report Manager includes role-based views (reports) to allow the network engineer, network manager, change manager, IT director and CIO to view and manage those areas of compliance for which they are responsible.

Because of JReport’s interactive dynamic HTML output, end users can manipulate specific reports to meet their needs. They can modify, filter, search, sort and drill down within reports to obtain data views relevant to their role in regulatory compliance.

The role-specific, easy-to-understand reports help organizations quickly uncover potential network misconfiguration issues identified by the Voyence product. This allows organizations to address the problem in order to clearly demonstrate policy adherence to internal and external audit committees.

“When we were building this product, we knew we wanted to include a powerful reporting offering that could be easily configured based on roles. Easily as important, the offering needed to work well with our architecture and be easy to use and maintain,” said Mary Morgan, vice president of operations for Voyence. “We’d used reporting tools in the past, and in the selection process, we evaluated the three market leaders. We did a proof of concept, and JReport installed rapidly and delivered quick results. Its Java-based architecture also fit well with our own. It didn’t take long to figure out JReport was the clear choice.”

The new Compliance Report Manager contains four integrated families of reports enabled by JReport: Executive-Level View, Compliance Management, Change Management and Inventory Management. Each family contains additional sets of individual reports that convey a full understanding of the network’s compliance-ready status.

Executive Level View – Offers a high level visibility and understanding regarding the network’s compliance status as well as all critical change initiatives and policies followed — or not followed.

Compliance Reporting – Provides critical information organizations must have to assess regulatory and non-regulatory (corporate) compliance mandates.

Change Management Reporting – Offers in-depth views into whether or not defined change and configuration management processes are working and being adhered to by IT personnel. Organizations can quickly understand, who, what, where and when changes are made as well as whether those changes are approved or not approved.

Inventory Reporting – Comprehensive views organize VoyenceControl NG’s rich network device knowledge into reports that enable organizations to reduce the cost of maintenance and ensure the consistency and ease of upgrades.

“When the network is out of compliance because of misconfigured devices, it means the business is at risk of violating government regulatory requirements,” said Fred Richards, vice president product management at Jinfonet.” Failing to pass regulatory audits can have a devastating impact on an organization. Access to relevant information is the Holy Grail in compliance. By embedding JReport into VoyenceControl NG, Voyence provides managers with visibility into the network through easy-to-understand reports. They can know in real time whether or not the business is at risk.”

Voyence’s VoyenceControl NG Compliance Report Manager is now available.
