Honeywell FM&T Select JReport as its Standard Reporting Tool
Rockville, MD – Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies/New Mexico has chosen JReport from Jinfonet Software to provide Web-based reporting capabilities for its online customer applications. Serving both internal and external customers, the in-house developed web applications provide a number of complex reports that take advantage of the power and flexibility of JReport.
“We conducted an extensive search of all the major Java reporting products and evaluated several that provide products for use in our environment,” said a representative of Honeywell’s Federal Manufacturing & Technologies group. “We chose JReport because we were able to create complex reports quickly and distribute them in a very easily maintainable manner. JReport will become our standard reporting package and will be used for all applications”
JReport is currently being used in several system at Honeywell FM&T, all of which are Java-based web applications, including an inspection tracking system, a hazardous material inventory system, a personnel qualifications database, and a project and program management system. The architecture in each system is a Linux or Unix server running Apache as the web server and Tomcat as the Java servlet engine. Oracle is the database, and Internet Explorer is the preferred browser. All of the code is developed in Java.
JReport is used to produce reports of data in a tabular form, grouped reports based on user-defined constraints, and reports that contain embedded reports that are based on multiple queries to the database. Some of the reporting requirements are quite complex due to the structure of the database tables and the diversity of information the customer requires in a single report.
Since it was first released in October 1998, JReport has focused on combining ease of use with power and flexibility, aimed at providing complete reporting capability to any Java project. The 100 percent J2EE reporting tool consists of two modules: JReport Designer, a visual report design interface for creating and testing reports; and JReport Enterprise Server, a high-performance report deployment server that can be integrated into any enterprise architecture. The most recent release, JReport 4.1 continues to take full advantage of the portability and ease of integration inherent in systems built on J2EE technology.
“We at Jinfonet are very proud and happy that an organization as important as Honeywell FM&T has chosen JReport as their standard for enterprise reporting,” said Dr. Bing Yao, President of Jinfonet Software. “This further confirms JReport’s stature as the premiere Java reporting tool.”
